Social
Inclusion is about people, about making sure that everyone
living in an area has a decent quality of life and can play
an active part in improving their community. It is about
offering choice and opportunity to all residents by supporting
initiatives which:
- get people into work;
- improve their health;
- enable them to learn and improve their skills;
- improve the environment in which they live;
and
- allow them to influence decisions about their
local community.
Above all, Social Inclusion is about listening to people
who live in communities across the Coalfield Area and finding
out what their priorities are for themselves, their families
and the area they live in and then putting initiatives in
place to address these concerns.
East Ayrshire Community Planning Partnership
(CPP) was established in 2005 (formerly known as East Ayrshire
Social Inclusion Partnership) to tackle social exclusion
and promote social inclusion. Members of the CPP Board include
nine community representatives and senior officer representation
from partner agencies.
Over the last
three years the CPP has received significant funding from
the Scottish Executive to improve the quality of life and
opportunities available to the people who live in the Coalfield
Area. This funding is used to support a wide range of projects
and initiatives.
