The Coalfield Communities Federation
(CCF) invites representation from each of the 14 Community
Councils within the East Ayrshire Coalfield Area. In addition,
the CCF seeks representation from Communities of Interest,
such as elderly, disabled and young people and also from
individuals.
The East Ayrshire Coalfield Area is
largely rural with a population of approximately 39,000
living in 24 villages and towns. Whilst all areas are
united through the common problems caused by the loss
of coal mining and associated industries, each community
has its own specific needs and issues.
